1.to reduce the number of youth who are at high risk of expulsion, suspension, or dopping out of school; and
2.to return out-of-school youth to school or to otherwise engage them in work and educational activities that increase their chances of becoming productive and healthy citizens.
One dimension of this mission is to provide a forum through conferences and electronic publications for the sharing of information and insights about alternative education policies and practices. Another important feature is to provide networking opportunities, resources, and support to educators in the field of alternative education for their professional growth.

網站簡介: 面對當代社會各種亂象，如道德觀念式微、生命意義模糊等，實用與升學導向之教育體系似乎難以發揮撥亂反正之功能。有鑑於此，整合人生哲學、宗教思想以及道德理念各領域的生命教育，便愈來愈受到社會各界所期待。為因應此一時代需求，前台灣省教育廳於民國八十六年十二月起，委託實施倫理教育多年之台中曉明女中成立「倫理教育推廣中心」，總攬生命教育之推動，更邀請數十所國、高中學校作為各地區之中心學校。在教育廳及這些學校的積極努力下，生命教育已於八十七學年度正式啟航。在八十七學年中，全省各校逐步由國一、高一等年級開始實施生命教育課程。
配合生命教育之推動，省教育廳於八十七年九月設立了「生命教育全球資訊網」，作為推動生命教育之重要配套措施， 此即本網站之緣起。
